Electroless Nickel Plating / Kanigen plating services

VEEM offers in-house Electroless Nickel Plating (ENP), also known as Kanigen Plating, providing total corrosion protection and accurate surface build-up for a variety of metal components. Our medium phosphorus ENP process delivers a uniform, durable coatingthat enhances the strength, durability, and corrosion resistance of critical parts, ensuring long-lasting performance in industries such as aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

Unlike traditional electrolytic plating, electroless nickel plating ensures a uniform thickness even on complex parts including threads, without the need for post-plating finishing. This precision process makes it ideal for wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant coatings, restoration of mis-machined parts, and surface finishing of intricate components.

Electroless nickel plating can also be heat treated to provide ultra high levels of corrosion protection with a similar Taber wear coefficient as hard chrome.

Coating Type Medium phosphorus (9% to 12%) nickel-phosphorus alloy
Uniform Thickness Accurate to micron-level precision, inside and out
Maximum Part Size Suitable for large and complex components
Material Compatibility Stainless steel, duplex stainless, carbon steel, brass, bronze, copper, cast iron, and proprietary alloys
Applications Aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, food service, packaging, chemical manufacturing, and more

Why Choose Electroless Nickel Plating?

Electroless Nickel Plating creates a uniform, reliable coating that covers even complex and intricate parts with micron-level accuracy. Unlike traditional electroplating methods, ENP does not rely on electrical current, meaning it delivers a consistent thickness without edge buildup or post-finishing. This makes it ideal for applications requiring corrosion resistance, wear protection, and dimensional accuracy. VEEM’s ENP process is fully customizable, allowing clients to achieve the exact surface hardness and protection they need, all while extending the life of their components in harsh environments.

Capabilities and Materials

VEEM performs medium phosphorus ENP, with a phosphorus content of 9% to 12%, to deliver total corrosion protection and enhanced surface hardness. The process is compatible with a wide range of materials, including:

  • Stainless and duplex stainless steels
  • Carbon steels
  • Brass, bronze, and copper
  • Cast irons and proprietary alloys

With the ability to coat large and complex components to final dimensions without additional finishing, VEEM’s process is both efficient and cost-effective. Our in-house facilities ensure quick turnaround times while adhering to strict quality control standards.

Applications and Benefits

Electroless Nickel Plating is widely used across industries that require high performance in challenging environments. Key applications include:

  • Oil & Gas: Protecting valves, pumps, and pipe fittings from corrosion in harsh underwater and underground environments.
  • Aerospace: Enhancing wear resistance, corrosion protection, and chemical resistance on flight-critical components such as engine shafts and compressor blades.
  • Automotive: Providing wear and corrosion protection for pistons, gears, fuel injectors, and transmission components.
  • Food & Packaging Equipment: Offering a durable, clean, and attractive finish that is essential for hygienic environments.

The benefits of ENP include improved surface hardness, reduced friction, enhanced durability, and a brighter appearance. For restoration and salvage, ENP can also bring worn or mis-machined parts back to their original dimensions, extending the lifespan of valuable components and reducing costs.
